Kangaroo Island is the third largest island in Australia. To avoid disappointment we strongly recommend at least a two day minimum stay. If you enjoy bushwalking, wildlife, birdwatching or photography then 3 to 5 nights is ideal.
“Thanks for a fantastic 3 nights stay!! Great welcome and the food was fabulous. Great days touring on the island too - so much to see... will need to come back!!”

Ferry
Drive from Adelaide to Cape Jervis. This is about a 2 hour drive. The ferry travels from Cape Jervis to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island:

Flying
Two airlines fly from Adelaide to Kangaroo Island. Regional Express Airlines fly from the International Airport. They have a luggage limit of 15kg. You will be charged $3 per kilo if you are over that limit. Rex offer a locker system for excess luggage if you chose to redistribute it for your island visit.
This is an affordable and convenient way to experience other attractions on the island. Many of the island's best kept secrets are found not only on sealed roads but also unsealed roads. Most are accessible by 2wd, but for the adventurous at heart, a 4 wd would be more comfortable.
We suggest that if you are planning to hire a car, hire on the island. There are two companies which operate on the island:

www.budgetki.com
Our experience is that some hire companies do not allow their vehicles onto KI. We suggest that you check the Terms & Conditions if you are planning to hire on the mainland.
At the retreat we provide the complete package if you like the idea of an experienced personal tour guide, 4 wheel drive touring, and accommodation in a fantastic location with great food and hospitality.
