Koala on our track

Driving home this afternoon spotted this fellow on the ground and he quickly jumped up a short tree beside our track about 1 km from the Retreat. As we have few koala feeding trees, he is termed a vagrant as they move between areas of feeding trees. Vagrants feed from some 50 species they do eat but there are only 6 preferred species of feeding trees. There are some 50,000 koalas now on Kangaroo Island of which it is estimated about 25,000 of theses are in Blue Gum (Eucalyptus) plantations, one of the preferred feeding trees.
