Goannas

Today its a bit warmer with weak sunshine and about 20 C at CCWR. About midday, this 70cm Rosenberg's Sand Monitor strolled across our excuse for a lawn and headed straight for the bird bath. It paused conveniently to watch me get into position to take a photo before heading for a drink.

Yesterday coming home from shopping in Kingscote at about 1pm there was a 30 cm goanna sunning itself on our track. As it spotted the vehicle, it scuttled off, quick smart. Survival for a small goanna very much depends on getting away from danger quickly.
