Yesterday I went on my walk / run down our track from the Retreat about 5pm towards the sea. About half way down there was this unusual low whistle so when the water became visible a quick look showed a white patch about 200 metres from the 30 metre cliff top. Watching for a while there were ripples and small fins which appeared several times and continued slowly so it was most likely a whale and calf. Another low whistle was followed by a big tail coming out of the water like in the picture but much flatter and more curved heading East for Cape Cassini. The other picture was taken on a previous whale sighting roughly in the same spot.
